Privacy and security

Queensland Transport is committed to protecting user privacy. The Queensland Government has established a privacy regime for the Queensland public sector based on 11 Information Privacy Principles. These are contained in Information Standard 42 - Information Privacy to which agencies are required to adhere.  In compliance with Information Standard 42, we have developed a privacy plan based on the 11 Information Privacy Principles specified in the information standard. When you visit this website, our server makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes only:

No attempt will be made to identify users, or their browsing activities, unless we are lawfully required to do so for investigation or law enforcement purposes.

Personal information

Steps are taken at all stages of any transaction performed on this website to protect your personal and financial details.  No financial details are stored on the Queensland Transport servers at any stage of a transaction. Once account details are sent to our financial institution they are no longer known to the Queensland Transport system.  Queensland Transport uses VeriSign Secure Site Program which helps to secure all transactions. VeriSign enables information to be sent over the internet in an encrypted form, which assists in protecting against unauthorised access of your personal and financial information.

All applications on the Queensland Transport website contain a privacy statement specific to the purpose for which it is being used.

Queensland Transport's website uses 'cookies' as a mean of providing a customised online payment facility.

Email correspondence sent to this website will be treated as a public record and will be retained in line with relevant legislation.

Your name and address details will not be added to a mailing list nor will we disclose these details to third parties without your consent unless required by law. Email messages may be monitored by the department's web team for system troubleshooting and maintenance purposes. Emails in which assistance is requested will be forwarded to the relevant departmental officer and/or transport service provider.

The services-online facilities of this website secure transmission of information across the internet. No other section of this website has facilities for securely transmitting information across the internet. We recognise there can be risks with transmitting information across the internet.
