Accessible public transport
Information about the transport standards developed by the Commonwealth in consultation with states, territories, councils and representatives from the transport and disability sectors, to make public transport more accessible.

Disability parking scheme permit
We administer the disability parking permit scheme and issue permits to people with mobility impairment.

Mobility aids
The Accessible Public Transport National Advisory Committee has produced a brochure called Safer Travel for Passengers using Mobility Aids on Public Transport.

Person with a vision impairment (VIP) travel pass
The holder of a Person with Vision Impairment (VIP) Travel Pass is entitled to free travel on all participating urban public transport services including buses, trains and ferries within Australia.

Taxi subsidy scheme
The taxi subsidy scheme is an initiative that subsidises taxi travel for persons with severe disabilities.

Assistance for older drivers

A number of organisations provide free or low-cost transport services for older drivers. Some criteria must be met before assistance is offered. If you have given up, or are about to give up driving, the following organisations can send you more information:
