Disability Service Plan
Disability Services Act 2006
The Disability Services Act 2006 provides a strong foundation to promote the rights of people with a disability, increase their wellbeing and community involvement. It includes measures to safeguard the rights and safety of people with a disability and combines with existing systems to improve the quality of services they receive.
The Disability Services Act 2006 actively encourages greater inclusion of people with a disability by requiring all government departments to develop and implement a 'disability service plan'.
Disability service plan
The disability service plan (PDF**, 394KB) (the plan) developed by Queensland Transport describes the way the department is working towards providing appropriate services and facilities for people with a disability, their families and carers.
The plan outlines actions we are taking to strengthen access to services for people with disabilities. These actions are in the areas of:
- community engagement processes
- communication processes
- policies and procedures
- complaints management
- access to public buildings under our control
- recruitment and retention strategies
- influencing attitudes and increasing our employees' awareness of disabled people's rights.
