Action plan to address urban congestion in south east Queensland

The south east Queensland transport system will play a critical role in ensuring the region retains its liveability for families and attractiveness for business. The Queensland Government is tackling congestion to help ensure people and goods can continue to travel with relative ease well into the future, and to protect the economy and jobs.

A plan to be released by the end of 2009 will bring together the various state government initiatives aimed at tackling urban congestion, and focuses on five themes of land use and planning, pricing and travel demand management, travel options, efficiency and capacity.

The Queensland Government is coordinating the collective efforts of other levels of government, industry and the community to implement initiatives to tackle urban congestion in south east Queensland. Through this coordinated approach a comprehensive congestion management strategy will be developed.
