Cycling in Queensland

Riding a bike is a fun, economical, environmentally-friendly and healthy way to get around. This site provides information for anyone who is thinking about bike riding, buying a bike, teaching a child how to ride or getting better cycling facilities in their local area.

Queensland values cycling for the important contribution it makes to the development of a sustainable and effective transport system. Cycling is not just a transport issue — it has significant benefits for health, the environment and tourism, as well as helping to connect communities. The bike user guide contains extensive bicycle-related information.

Check this page for updates on cycling news and events. We welcome your feedback at cycles@transport.qld.gov.au.

Riding in residential areas early in the morning

When riding your bike early in the morning in residential areas please try to do so quietly (especially when riding in groups) as many people are sleeping at this time.
