Our commitment to the environment
Queensland Transport is committed to supporting the environment. Here are some of the initiatives we are involved in.
Aircare
Aircare aims to improve air quality in south east Queensland by reducing pollution from motor vehicles. The campaign encourages motorists to take simple steps to decrease their vehicle's emission levels. Find out how you can make a big difference to our air quality with just a little effort.
Report a smoky vehicle
If a vehicle's exhaust smokes for 10 seconds or more you can submit their details online to Queensland Transport or phone our automated message service on 13 20 19a.
Climate change and greenhouse gas emissions
The Queensland Government is committed to encouraging people to replace private vehicle travel with public transport, walking, cycling and car pooling.

Ecologically sustainable transport
Sustainable transport for Queensland is about simple things like visiting our friends and families when we want to, getting to work, conducting our business and accessing the goods, services and facilities we need.
Environmental management system
Queensland Transport's Environmental Management System is based on an international standard for environmental management systems. It is a management system designed to integrate with Queensland Transport's existing management practices and decision-making processes.
Marine pollution
Marine pollution is a very important issue for Queensland. Queensland Transport is responsible for managing the prevention of coastal and marine pollution from ships. This is achieved through the Transport Operations (Marine Pollution) Act 1995.
Transport portfolio environmental framework
The Queensland Government is committed to ecologically sustainable development. The Transport Portfolio Environmental Framework guides the work of the state's transport agencies and aims to improve the environmental performance of the transport system, and in the long term, create a transport system that is environmentally sustainable.
Queensland Government initiative
e+ Ethanol powered by nature
The Queensland Government has launched a statewide +e marketing campaign which will focus on increasing consumer knowledge about the benefits of ethanol, dispel the myths that could negatively influence consumer behaviour and provide factual information to motorists.
