
Approved inspection station
An approved inspection station is an establishment such as a service station, garage or workshop where motor vehicles are inspected under the provisions of the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995. A fee (PDF**, 53KB) may be payable when you lodge an application.
What are the intended outcomes of approved inspection stations?
- Department of Transport and Main Roads
To ensure registered vehicles are safe to use on a road when being offered for sale, when the vehicle is being registered and when the registration is being transferred.
- Approved inspection station
To issue safety certificates or certificates of inspection for vehicles that are safe to use on a road.
- Public
To ensure your vehicle is safe to use on a road and allow you to conduct business transactions concerning your vehicle with the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
