
Regional air travel changes
Following the closure of MacAir Airlines, which operated regulated air services to communities in regional Queensland, the Department of Transport and Main Roads (then Queensland Transport) signed emergency contracts with other air service providers, who will operate regular passenger services to rural and remote parts of the state.
The temporary contracts will remain in place for about six months while the Department of Transport and Main Roads undertakes the full tender process for new five-year contracts.
SkyTrans will operate the below three routes from Monday 16 February:
- Gulf route: Mt Isa-Doomadgee-Burketown-Mornington Island-Normanton-Cairns^
- Western 1 route: Thargomindah-Cunnamulla-St George-Toowoomba-Brisbane
- Western 2 route: Mount Isa-Boulia-Bedourie-Birdsville-Windorah-Quilpie-Charleville-Toowoomba-Brisbane.
^Please note: The Gulf route will now operate to a different schedule.

- Northern 1: Longreach-Winton-Townsville
