
Queensland Road Freight Industry Council
The Queensland Road Freight Industry Council (RFIC) is an advisory body, established under Ministerial direction, to facilitate communication and consultation between the road freight industry and transport portfolio departments. A sub committee, the Heavy Vehicle Safety Group has been formed to identify, promote, and encourage safety initiatives for the heavy vehicle industry.
The objectives of the RFIC are to:
- provide advice to the Minister on matters affecting the road freight industry
- inform, liaise and collaborate across government agencies, industry groups, interested groups and other stakeholders on issues relating to heavy vehicle freight industry
- promote efficient safe road freight operations and improved road asset protection
- consider ways to improve the management of freight vehicle access, mass management, fatigue management, pilot and escort, dangerous goods and compliance and enforcement
- consider ways to improve efficiency, innovation and technology development in road freight operation (for example, Intelligent Access Program, performance based standards and higher mass limits)
- contribute to achieving an appropriate balance between regulation and free enterprise and provide a focal point for major issues affecting industry.

Membership is by personal invitation from the Minister for Transport. Current members include:
