Indigenous Driver Licensing Program

The Indigenous Driver Licensing Program aims to reduce unlicensed driving and the consequential legal, social and actual costs to indigenous individuals, their families and communities.

The program has a dedicated mobile driver licensing unit based in Cairns which takes Queensland Transport's licence testing service out into communities. This is supported by a community information program to make learning about road rules and responsible driving more accessible to new drivers. Importantly, the program invites indigenous communities to be full partners in the program through a shared responsibility and service agreement.

The Indigenous Driver Licensing Program newsletter, published twice annually, includes information about the program's operations and recent achievements.
