Road rules — Your Keys to Driving in Queensland

Your Keys to Driving in Queensland is a book that contains essential information about the Queensland driver licensing system and road rules. The book is a valuable source of information for learner drivers, their tutors, and people who already have their licence but want to refresh their knowledge.

The guide is available as a complete PDF (portable document format) file and also divided into sections so you can download a portion at a time. The information in this guide is current as at July 2008.

If you ride a motorcycle, please read the information about changes commencing 1 July 2009 which include the learner approved motorcycle scheme, the requirement to display P plates on motorcycles and new pillion passenger restrictions.

Please note, the value of the fines increased on 1 January 2009. Therefore the fines or penalties contained in the 'Your keys to driving in Queensland' publication were current up until 31 December 2008. For view a list of the current fines and penalities, please view the licence demerit points web page.

Your Keys to Driving in Queensland is also available from most newsagents and Department of Transport and Main Roads customer service centres at a recommended retail price of A$11.15.

It is also available for purchase online.

The information in Your Keys to Driving in Queensland is an interpretation of the rules applying to road use in Queensland. For more detail, visit the Office of the Queensland Parliamentary Counsel website and search the Transport Operations (Road Use Management — Road Rules) Regulation 1999, which are the current Queensland Road Rules.
