The Cairns Bus Priority Study was conducted by the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Cairns City Council. The study provides the agencies with a ten-year program of works to improve the efficiency of bus services. Bus priority measures along busy road corridors ensure that buses are able to bypass congestion to stay on schedule.
Cairns Integrated Public Transport Plan
The Cairns Integrated Public Transport Plan was a priority action of the Far North Queensland Regional Plan, which identified the need for convenient, reliable and effective public transport.
The Queensland Government has commenced planning for a new transit network for Cairns. This planning includes building a network to deliver dedicated public transport spines that will connect the length and breadth of Cairns. The network will be an attractive, fast, frequent and reliable transit network that will be custom-built to fit in with the Cairns lifestyle and climate.
