Integrated Development Assessment System referral triggers
Since September 2005, Queensland Transport has been a concurrence agency under the Integrated Planning Act 1997. This means that, under the act, Queensland Transport can:
- impose conditions on the approval of applications
- approve only part of an application
- request more information about an application.

Some development applications trigger referrals to Queensland Transport due to their proximity to existing and future railway and public transport corridors, public transport facilities and airports. Queensland Transport has mapped the elements that trigger these referrals. This mapping can be accessed free of charge through the following link.

- 8 November 2006: Update number one (PDF**, 26KB).
Optional CD lodgement of development applications
We have introduced the option of lodging development applications on CD. This initiative is an interim step in expectation of full electronic lodgement of development applications through the Department of Local Government, Planning, Sport and Recreation's Smart electronic Development Assessment (Smart eDA). Consultants sending in correspondence are requested to save the correspondence on CD as a PDF, then send the CD with a cover letter. Please find a checklist below. It contains details of Queensland Transport's preferred method for CD submission.
CD lodgement checklist for applicants (PDF**, 22KB)Benefits of CD lodgement will include an increase in Queensland Transport's efficiency in assessing development applications and a reduction of costs associated with the preparation of reports. However, if consultants are unable to submit correspondence on CD, Queensland Transport will continue to accept hard-copy correspondence until the Smart eDA initiative is implemented.

Information requirements
The following checklists will assist applicants in preparing the required information and understanding desired outcomes for the Queensland Transport triggers. If all the information detailed below is provided at the time of lodgement, the assessment period is less likely to be lengthened by requests for information.

Self-assessable code for road works on scheduled bus routes
The self-assessable code is in Schedule 1 of the Transport Planning and Cordination Regulation 2005 can be accessed free of charge.
The code contains specific road design requirements or refers to standards in the Main Roads 'Road Planning and Design Manual'. The code details prescriptive standards for:
- indented bus bays
- intersection curves
- lane widths
- mid-block islands
- road and flat-top humps
- road profiles
- road turns and curves
- roundabouts.
Mapping, indicating the roads that the self-assessable code applies to, can be found by accessing the mapping link below. This mapping is not definitive, and it is important to confirm details as follows:
