Registration changes

Change your address

You can notify the Department of Transport and Main Roads of your change of address by:

Note: Please advise the department of your change of address before paying your registration to ensure your registration label is posted to the correct address.

Change your compulsory third party (CTP) insurer or input tax credit entitlement

You can notify the department of your change of compulsory third party (CTP) insurer or input tax credit entitlement by:

Note: Prior to renting or considering the renting of Queensland registered vehicles, the department advises that registered operators should contact the compulsory third party (CTP) insurer listed on their vehicle registration certificate or vehicle registration renewal notice. The CTP class may require amendment and additional fees may be payable. Where a vehicle is used for more than one purpose, the CTP insurance class attracting the highest premium is applicable.

Other changes

Changes to other details that affect your registration, such as a change of name or concession, can only be made in person to ensure evidence of identity provisions are met.

Changes to your registration record, following modifications to your vehicle, can only be made in person at a Department of Transport and Main Roads customer service centre or, if you live in a rural area, a Queensland Government Agency Program office or Police Station — an inspection of the vehicle may be required.

Please keep any receipts or receipt numbers as proof of payment. The certificate of registration and windscreen label will be mailed to you.

Remember, you must update your enrolment details every time you change your address — once you have lived at the new address for one month, and even if the new address is in the same electoral district.
