Renewing registration
You will receive a notice of renewal in the mail about five weeks before your registration expiry date.
See the payment options page for a number of convenient ways of paying your registration.
If you don't renew your registration
If you do not intend to renew your registration by the due date, you are required by law to remove the number plate/s and apply for cancellation.
If you don't renew your registration, you must not use your vehicle, motorbike, caravan or light trailer. You will be fined for driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle if you drive it and are:
- stopped by a police officer or transport inspector
- photographed by a speed camera or red light camera.
You will also not be covered by compulsory third party insurance in the event of a crash, and may subsequently be held personally liable for any personal injury claims for compensation.
