Young driver campaign

Young drivers are twice as likely to be involved in fatal crashes than drivers aged between 25-59. In 2007, 80 young people died on Queensland roads.

Queensland Transport launched a campaign to raise awareness about the new rules that applied from 1 July 2007. The campaign slogan was:

The new road for young drivers. It is longer, but it's safer.

The campaign consisted of television, cinema, press and radio advertising, along with targeted publicity.

The campaign aimed to educate young drivers about the new laws, to encourage them to gain more on-road driving experience to reduce the risk of being involved in a crash.
