Motorbike safety consultation paper

Motorbike safety is a significant road safety issue in Queensland. Queensland Transport is committed to improving the safety of motorbike riders on Queensland's roads.

On 28 April 2008, Queensland Transport released the Motorbike safety in Queensland—Consultation Paper (PDF**, 344KB) to stimulate discussion and gain public opinion on motorbike safety. The result of the consultation will be used to develop a Motorbike Safety Strategy for the future.

The consultation period closed on Friday 30 May 2008. Thank you to all those motorbike riders, trainers, motoring and community groups who had their say about proposed motorbike safety initiatives and made suggestions. Please note that no further submissions will be accepted or considered.

The submissions will be analysed independently by the Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety—Queensland (CARRS-Q) and a report will be submitted to Queensland Transport. This report will inform future initiatives to improve motorbike safety in Queensland.

More information will be available from this website in the coming months.
