
Motorbike safety consultation paper
Motorbike safety is a significant road safety issue in Queensland. The Department of Transport and Main Roads is committed to improving the safety of motorbike riders on Queensland roads.
On 28 April 2008, the department released the Motorbike safety in Queensland — Consultation Paper (PDF**, 344KB) to stimulate discussion and gain public opinion on motorbike safety. The consultation results were used to develop the Queensland Motorcycle Safety Strategy 2009–2012.The consultation period closed on Friday 30 May 2008. Thank you to all those motorbike riders, trainers, motoring and community groups who had their say about proposed motorbike safety initiatives and made suggestions.
The submissions were collated by the Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety Queensland (CARRS-Q) and two reports submitted to the department. These reports are the Report on motorbike safety consultation workshops 2008 (PDF**, 418KB) and the Report on community feedback to the motorbike safety consultation paper (PDF**, 411KB). Together, they contributed to the development of the Queensland Motorcycle Safety Strategy 2009-2012 to improve motorcycle safety in Queensland.Please note that no further submissions will be accepted or considered.
